Product overview |
You use this black O-ring made of EPDM as a seal for foodstuffs and beverages in static applications and slow, dynamic applications. This product has certificates for Europe (EC1935) and the United States (FDA and 3-A). It is also resistant to cleaning agents such as hot water and mild acids.
Application
Temperature resistance
This EPDM O-ring has an operating temperature range of -50°C to +150°C.
Maximum pressure
Compound 559270 has a Shore A hardness of 70. As a result, this O-ring is suitable for applications with a pressure of up to 80 bars. Refer to the chart below for information on the relationship between hardness, pressure, the groove dimensions and the seal clearance gap. You should always adhere to these guidelines.
Do you have a slow, dynamic application with a pressure of 50 bars or higher? If so, we recommend using back-up rings in addition to an O-ring.
Chemical resistance
This EPDM rubber is highly resistant to acids, bases, solvents, hot water and steam. So it is suitable for CIP and SIP processes. This material is not resistant to mineral and animal oils and greases. However, it is resistant to ozone and UV radiation.
