The black Compound 55985 O-ring from ERIKS has been specifically designed for static applications and slow, dynamic applications involving drinking water. This O-ring is certified for use in drinking water systems in many European countries (KIWA, WRAS, ACS, UBA, KTW, W270 and Belgaqua), and also in the United States (NSF). Are you looking for an EPDM O-ring for the food industry? If so, choose Compound 559270. If you need a seal for the pharmaceutical industry, use Compound 559273.

Application

Temperature resistance
This EPDM O-ring has an operating temperature range of -45°C to +150°C.

Maximum pressure
This EPDM O-ring seal has a Shore A hardness of 70. This makes it suitable for applications with a pressure of up to 80 bars. Note that you must also strictly adhere to the guidelines in the chart below. This chart shows the relationship between the hardness of your O-ring, the pressure in your application, the groove size and the seal clearance gap.

Are you going to use this O-ring seal in a slow, dynamic application with a pressure of 50 bars or higher? If so, we advise you to use back-up rings.

Chemical resistance
This EPDM rubber is the ideal material for applications involving drinking water. It is also resistant to hot water and steam.
