You use this black FKM* O-ring from ERIKS as a seal for foodstuffs in static applications and slow, dynamic applications. This product is FDA, 3A and EC1935 compliant. It is mainly used in applications involving strong acids and bases, oils and greases. It also offers high temperature resistance.

Application

Temperature resistance
This FKM O-ring has an operating temperature range of -20°C to +200°C.

Maximum pressure
Compound 514641 has a Shore A hardness of 70. This makes this O-ring suitable for applications with a maximum pressure of 80 bars. Refer to the chart below for information on the relationship between hardness, pressure, the groove dimensions and the seal clearance gap. You should always adhere to these guidelines.

Are you going to use this O-ring in a slow, dynamic application with a pressure of 50 bars or higher? In that case, we advise you to use back-up rings.

Chemical resistance
FKM is resistant to acids, bases, oils and greases. It also has good resistance to ageing and UV radiation. This material is often used in applications involving a vacuum. For sealing steam, you should preferably use EPDM, FFKM or HNBR, depending on the application.
