You use the red silicone O-ring from ERIKS as a seal for food products in static applications and slow, dynamic applications. This product has European (EC1935), American (FDA) and Chinese certificates. It is also widely used in low-temperature or high-temperature applications (e.g. refrigeration systems or ovens). In comparison to FKM, VMQ is a better choice economically speaking.

Application

Temperature resistanceThis VMQ O-ring has a large operating temperature range, from -60°C to +220°C to be exact.Maximum pressureCompound 71477 has a Shore A hardness of 70. So it is suitable for applications with a maximum pressure of 80 bars. Note that you must also strictly adhere to the guidelines in the chart below. This chart shows the relationship between hardness, pressure and the dimensions of the groove and the seal clearance gap. Be careful though; the seal clearance gap for VMQ should not be as large as the size shown in the table. In the case of silicones, you need to divide the indicated seal clearance gap by two. You reduce the seal clearance gap with back-up rings from ERIKS. Back-up rings should always be used for slow, dynamic applications with pressures of 50 bars or higher.Chemical resistanceThis silicone O-ring is resistant to ozone and UV radiation. Furthermore, this material is suitable for applications that involve animal and vegetable oils and greases. It is not resistant to mineral oils and greases.
