PTFE lip seals
PTFE lip seals perform the same function and have the same shape as oil seals, but are made of a different material. These seals consist of a metal jacket containing a lip of PTFE (plastic). PTFE lip seals are more resistant to high temperatures and high rotational speeds. In addition, they are often self-lubricating, a feature that makes them suitable for dry-running applications. These products are widely used in the food industry because the materials are declared compliant under European (EC 1935) and American legislation (FDA).

PTFE lip seals are available in a standard design, which consists of a metal body, a PTFE lip and an energiser. The energiser is made of rubber and absorbs vibration.
