Product overview

Product description
Electric motors, generators and associated equipment are at risk when an electric current passes through their bearings. This can damage the contact surfaces of rolling elements and raceways in the bearing (electrical erosion) and rapidly degrade grease. INSOCOAT bearings are designed to prevent electric current from passing trough the bearing. With insulating properties integrated to the bearing INSOCOAT bearings can improve reliability and increase machine uptime by virtually eliminating the problem of electrical erosion. The aluminium oxide coating provides a minimum electrical resistance of 200MΩ and can withstand voltages up to 3000V DC. The INSOCOAT bearing is protected against condensation by a unique sealant.

Product features

INSOCOAT bearings with coated o-race
Bearings with electrical coating on the outer surface of the o-race are the most common kind of bearings. They are marked with the supplement VL0241.

INSOCOAT bearings with coated i-race
Bearings with the electrically insulating INSOCOAT coating in the bore hole of the i-race provide additional protection against damage from current, which is due to the higher impedance of the smaller coated surfaces. They are marked with the supplement VL2071.
