Due to its high quality, the GARLOCK PS-seal is the most popular PTFE lip seal in our range. The components that make up the seal are a Gylon (PTFE) sealing lip, a stainless steel 316-L metal housing and a static sealing ring made from FKM. This product can be used in both lubricated and non-lubricated applications where a rubber oil seal is not up to the job, due, for example, to high pressures, high temperatures , high rotational speeds or abrasive media. The PS-seal is also suitable for applications in the food industry. You must make sure that you choose an appropriate material in that case.
Application
Materials Gylon Black: standard - for high speeds or high pressures in a lubricated application Gylon White: for the food industry - suitable for dry applications Gylon Blue: for the food industry and pharmaceuticals - suitable for dry applications - flexible material F: for the food industry - suitable for dry applications and applications involving a vacuum MS: suitable for abrasive media KF: suitable for abrasive media and dry applications Gylon Brown-White: for the food industry - has full certification - suitable for dry applications and abrasive media
Temperature resistance The PS-seal has an operating temperature range from -90 ºC to +260 ºC. The exact temperature resistance is dependent on other parameters in each application.
Maximum pressure The PS seal can withstand a maximum pressure of 10 bars as standard. Special versions of the PS-seal can be used up to 25 bars; please contact our specialists for more information. Please note that a high rotational speed in your application reduces the maximum pressure this product can withstand.
Chemical resistance Compared to rubber, PTFE has good resistance to a much broader range of chemicals.
