You use this black Kalrez® FFKM O-ringas a seal for various chemicals and oils. So you will often encounter this product in static applications and slow, dynamic applications in the petrochemical and chemical industries. This seal is the predecessor of Kalrez® Compound 7075. Compound 7075 is even more resistant to high temperatures, steam and strong amines.

Application

Temperature resistance
The Kalrez® 4079 O-ring has an operating temperature range from -19°C to +316°C.

Maximum pressure
Compound 4079 has a Shore A hardness of 75. This makes this O-ring suitable for applications with a maximum pressure of 80 bars. Refer to the chart below for information on the relationship between pressure, hardness, the seal clearance gap and the groove dimensions. You should always adhere to these guidelines.

Do you have a slow, dynamic application with a pressure of 50 bars or higher? If so, we advise the use of back-up rings in addition to an O-ring.

Chemical resistance
This material offers good chemical resistance across an extremely broad spectrum. It is resistant to most acids, bases and solvents. Does your application involve strong amines or do you work with steam? If so, Compound 7075 is a better choice.
